Out of control

It is easy for CPAs to be stressed out at this time of the year.

Why do we feel stress? For me, stress is not from having a lot of work. It is from the feeling that things are out of control. When I feel like I don't have things in control, I feel stress.

We need some stress. Stress makes us work hard. But feeling out of control is not the kind of stress we are looking for. This kind of stress robs us from concentrating 100% on what we need to do now.

As we turn the 4th corner of the busy season, we need to get rid of such stress by taking control and focus on closing the deals. We need to classify each work to either getting it done by April 15th or deferring it beyond April 15th. By correctly classifying each job early, we will be able get rid of the unnecessary stress and concentrate on what we really need to do.

The key is to categorize each job to either do it now or do it later. The better we become in categorizing, the more efficient we will be. Let's look at the big picture, categorize, and concentrate. By doing this, we should be able to run the last stretch with ease.
