Learning accounting and taxes are a lot like learning a foreign language. You need to use it, reuse it in as many as possible circumstances to make it your own knowledge.

Japanese people are not good at learning English. They study grammar and difficult words, but still cannot speak. I think learning grammar is not actually helping, but preventing them from being able to speak the language. I believe language proficiency can mostly be improved by using it as much as possible.

Accounting is similar to learning a new language in many ways. Yes, we need basic understanding of the rules, but real knowledge is accumulated by using it over and over. In other words, if you want to be good at accounting, work a lot. Just do it. Set a time budget to finish an engagement, and do your best, and do as many as possible. I believe that will improve your skills much more than performing only a few engagements using a lot of time.

Most beginners do not know what they should study, and even when they do, they are looking into the wrong things half the time anyway. So, just do it! Do a lot! I believe doing this will contribute to your growth more than anything else. And I believe having a clear vision will help you to work hard everyday.
