Planning

Yesterday I wrote about planning. I wrote that flexibility, alertness, commitment, and collective ideas are necessary for planning. I like to plan. Planning is when you can think of your dreams and visions and it is fun. But the purpose of planning is for taking action. These are the things we definitelyu do not want to do.

Take time in planning: Things change, and plans change anyway. So, hurry up! Plan a little and take action!

Be too thorough: Things change, we need to be flexible. Too much planning will rob the organization of its flexibility.

No clear action items: Planning is for taking action. Be specific about what action we need to take.

A lot of plans: People have their own agendas. Even if you are excited, people will only commit to one or two plans. A lot of plans will probably produce nothing. Unnecessary plans (plans with low priority) will rob people of the energy to pursue the most important plan. Focus!

What is the most important action plan for us now? How soon do we need to take action?
