Do the right things right
We are being involved in a project which we have succeeded a CPA who did not provide satisfactory service to the client.
I do not know the situation, but it is surprising that some, or many people cannot provide even a basic service to their clients.
To provide a good service and be profitable, the following needs to be considered;
Do the right thing
Do it the right way
Communicate well with the client
1. Do the right thing
This is about effectiveness. In order to be effective, we need to plan first. After planning comes commitment and execution. This order cannot be altered. One element cannot be skipped.
Planning is to: Visualize the outcome. Determine the knowledge and resources necessary. Plan the best way to achieve the outcome. Determine the risks. Prepare plan B for any surprises.
2. Do it the right way
This is about efficiency. In order to achieve result swiftly, we need to commit necessary time to the project and stay focused for a necessary time. When we cannot work efficiently for whatever reason, leave it only after you document and make sure you can start full speed once you are able to restart. Do not commit to too many things that will put yourself in a situation that you cannot make necessary commitment to finish the project. Always visualize the result and measure your progress and reflect whether what you are doing really matters.
3. Communicate well with the client
Even if you work hard, if you do not communicate well with the client, sometimes your hard work will not be appreciated. The client may think that certain jobs are much easier than it really is. You need to have the client posted to the issues you are facing. Also, follow up with unanswered inquiries. If you do not receive responses, follow up with a phone call because emails are not 100% received by the client.
I am thinking about the keys to improving our productivity by 50%. There are certain procedures that can be improved, but doing the right thing right individually and as a firm is the most important key to increasing our productivity.
