Connecting the dots2

In order to connect the dots fast, it helps to know the big picture in advance.

Same with work. It helps to understand the big picture before starting work. It really helps to know what we are working on and how we should work.

Examples of what we need to know what we are working on are;

Business situation of the client
Key personnel
Risk of the engagement
How much detail is necessary?
Owner’s preference
Business cashflow
What is the primary interest – tax savings? Managerial insight?

These are examples of what we should know with each engagement. Can you answer all of the above for each client you are in charge? What are you doing to proactively understand the client and the big picture of each engagement?
