Fierce focus with conviction

We need to have fierce focus with conviction in order to be a really good professional. I don’t mean a good one. I mean a really good professional. This is what we all want to be. Because work become increasingly interesting as we become better at what we do.

1. Conviction
What I mean by “conviction” is a conviction that we provide (or can provide) a valuable service to the client. Without the conviction that you are providing valuable service, much better than other accounting firms, we cannot really be confident in what we do and our motivation becomes harder to maintain. We can easily lose the joy of working.

Of course in certain cases we know that we are not providing excellent service to our clients. We know that we can do better. In such case, we need to acknowledge that we are still short of the service we can provide, and work on making it better.

Sometimes, client does not appreciate what we are doing. If so, don’t worry. There are a lot of potential clients waiting for our service.

2. Fierce focus
We need to be really focused on the ideal service we can provide to our clients. We need to really focus on doing it better. This is not a short time focus. This needs to be a fierce focus that is persistent. This fierce focus will enable us to find better ways to serve clients and make us better professionals. We are implementing PRDs so that we can focus on what we need to accomplish each month. If we think through and make the PRD and focus on the commitments every month, we should be able to grow to a very good professional in a short amount of time.

There are overwhelming things that we need to do. We all have our ups and downs, victories and defeats. But let’s maintain the fierce focus with conviction and go forward every month, every week, and every day.
